countdown has begun

So just a heads up that Jade Redd will be in studio this Wednesday recording a brand new single "Better Than Here" and will give a preview release of it right here on the blog. so i would like everybody to tune in and give us their take on this highly emotional song written By Kim Schmitt, yours truly and Madalena.

Look for it early next week.

we will also have a video of the recording session, to show you the torture (not) we go through to create a new song.

Band to Band...

It's so funny to go from BRAVO! (after school 6th grade band practice) to a JADE REDD rehearsal! Both quite rewarding, but in totally different ways. Kim and I are helping out the kids in the Santa Barbara school district get ready for the Christmas parade. Oops, I mean "Holiday Parade" on December 4th.

A whole mess of 6th graders playing Jingle Bell Rock and (it's true!) MARCHING!!!

So I just ordered 10 strings of red, battery powered lights (great for trombone slides and snare drums). Anyone care to bet on if they arrive in time for the parade? I will SO not be the hero if they don't!!

Great rehearsal - kids and JADE REDD, but I think we are all ready for a break.

Orianthi, an amazing talent from down under

Ah yes... work.

Nursing my voice back after a head cold. We worked on "Yellow & Blue" last night and did some bonding. I am starting to really love this song as it takes shape. There is no forcing it... it's like kneading dough for pastry! I got tingly at least twice while singing it so I'm sure that's a good sign!

What a pleasure to "work" with such a professional, talented and caring group.

Work Work Work

We are feverishly working on new material and getting the band ready for extensive gigs.

I have almost completed the new song "Yellow & Blue" the fantastic lyrics that Madalena contributed and Kim wrote music for which i am compiling.

We are also auditioning musicians to add to the line-up, we still need more musicians to enhance the sound of the band, a guitar player would be the most important member we are looking for right now.

Although i call it work, this is the most fun I've had with a band for a long time and i wish everybody had so much fun with work.
